BECOME A VOLUNTEER
SERVICE VOLUNTEERS & COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS
Our Village needs many different service and committee volunteers
.
SERVICE VOLUNTEERS
Those who choose to become Service volunteers make a straightforward contribution to another person’s life.
The impact of their help is immediate.
Social Callers
Visit our members to spend time chatting or playing a game, to go for walks, to make daily phone calls, or to check in during times of crisis. Caring and gregarious natures are musts for this position.
Developed communications skills are useful.
Drivers
Give rides to and/or from a variety of locations such as grocery stores, pharmacies, and doctors offices. These volunteers need to have their own vehicle, a valid driver’s license, proper registration, and insurance. Drivers may report gas and mileage costs as deductible charitable contributions for income tax purposes.
Shopping Helpers
Run errands for members such as going grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions. Members are required to cover the costs of the purchased goods. This is an excellent volunteer position for the well organized.
Indoor, Household Volunteers
Perform light household tasks such as changing light bulbs or taking out the trash. Volunteers are not required to perform any heavy or unsafe tasks. Household volunteers should be handy with a variety of tools and be willing to get their hands a little dirty.
Outdoor Volunteers
Provide light maintenance around the member’s property such as gardening or pet care. Volunteers for these positions should be handy with a variety of outdoor tools and have a green thumb or enjoy working with pets.
COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS
Those who choose to join a committee are using their talents to impact the Village as a whole.
They may not see the results of their labors but the rewards will be felt by many.
These are the committees our volunteers can join:
Program and Events Committee
This committee sponsors a range of cultural programs, social events, and interest groups. Volunteers are needed here to help plan and organize these activities. We are looking for people who are self-directed, detail-oriented, willing to take initiative, and able to follow through on tasks.
Fundraising & Sponsorship Committee
This committee is responsible for raising the money needed to run the Village and for finding sponsors willing to partner with us. We are looking for people who have experience with traditional fundraising activities such as writing letters, organizing promotional events, and recruiting volunteers.
Communications Committee
This committee writes articles for Views from the Village, publishes newsletters on the Village website, and advertises special events through a variety of social platforms. Communication volunteers should have good writing and communication skills, and familiarity with social media.
Administration Committee
This committee serves as a part of the administration of the Village. These volunteers coordinate the services between volunteers and members. They should have good communication and organizational skills.
